McMillian Binch - 106,000 SF

Challenge
Celebrating 100 years of practice, McMillan Binch is one of Canada's leading full service business law firms providing domestic and international enterprises, financial institutions, governments and private individuals with definitive legal advice on complex matters.

McMillan Binch required dramatic changes within their current office space. The firm planned to implement new universal sized offices for all partners to reduce their overall space needs. The decrease in square footage occupied per person translated to significant alterations and disruption to their current space, which caused the firm to consider a relocation.

McMillan Binch finds great importance in the attraction and retention of new talent and felt the need to create a stronger overall image and identity for the firm. With new, more efficient office design, and a cultural shift to a younger partner base, the firm examined the option to relocate to a more prestigious downtown address.

Solution
Prior to relocating, McMillan Binch performed extensive studies with several New York law firms to discern trend focus within the office environment to remain competitive. CB Richard Ellis provided extensive needs analysis through a strategic alliance with a premiere design firm with extensive experience in law practice requirements.

After performing a comprehensive search of Toronto's Financial Core market, CB Richard Ellis presented five valid options to satisfy the firm's accommodation needs. McMillan Binch chose a rare opportunity to occupy 106,000 SF of space on the top floors of one of Canada's signature office buildings, BCE Place. The firm believed the space would bring added prestige and importance to its already powerful corporate brand presence.
