Half a Million Raised for the University of Ottawa Eye Institute

CBRE continues to support vision research after 12 years as event host

OTTAWA, September 9, 2013 – CBRE Limited is proud to announce that its 12th Annual Charity Golf Classic in Ottawa, hosted by CBRE Canadian Project Management, garnered attention and additional funding for the worthy cause of vision research. Over $522,000 was raised at this year’s event for the University of Ottawa’s Eye Institute at the Ottawa Hospital, bringing the grand total of funds raised during the 12 year history of the event to $4.8 million. CBRE, the world’s largest full-service commercial real estate firm, continues to support advancements in research, treatment, and prevention of age related blindness and other vision challenges at the University of Ottawa Eye Institute.

“Donations stemming from this event continue to assist the Institute with their pursuit of new developments and leading-edge technologies that diagnose, prevent, and treat eye diseases affecting the residents of Ottawa and the surrounding area,” said Greg Moore, Senior Managing Director of CBRE’s Canadian Project Management group and tournament founder. “I am proud to say that our commitment to raising $5.0 million for the Institute is now well within our reach.”

On September 5th, 200 golfers participated in the tournament at the Canadian Golf and Country Club in Ottawa. In attendance were Dr. Steven M. Gilberg, University Chairman and Head of the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Ottawa, along with CBRE clients, consultants, contractors and friends from the Ottawa region. CBRE’s Annual Golf Classic assists the University of Ottawa Eye Institute, a world-class facility recognized internationally for excellence in patient eye care, research, and teaching in the field of ophthalmology.
