Ottawa, 27 June 2012 - CBRE Limited Project Management (PJM) Division, and the Toronto General and Western Hospital Foundation are proud to announce that the 3rd Annual CBRE PJM Charity Golf Classic has raised $1,038,243. All money raised goes directly to support the Donald K. Johnson Eye Centre, the home of Canada's largest and most comprehensive eye care centre.
On June 21, 2012, over 300 participants attended the golf tournament at the Angus Glen Golf and Conference Centre. The attendees included consultants, contractors and friends within the real estate industry in the Greater Toronto Area.
The event directly raised $207,648, thanks to the generous contributions of individuals and over 100 corporate sponsors. With matching contributions from private donors, the total amount raised was $1,038,243! Over the past three years, the CBRE PJM Charity Golf Classic has raised an impressive $3,208,924 for vision research in Toronto, thanks to community support and the contributions of private and governmental donors.
“We are grateful to all the supporters of this tournament. Together we will continue to prevent blindness through innovation and research,” said Dr. Graham Trope MB, PhD, FRCSC, FRCOphth, and Director of the Glaucoma Unit at the Donald K. Johnson Eye Centre. “The donation from this tournament directly funds a glaucoma researcher, making valuable discoveries possible in our own community.”
“I am proud to once again be a part of the Toronto real estate community, which has demonstrated its generosity through the sponsorship of this event”, said Greg Moore, Senior Managing Director, Project Management Canada, and tournament founder. “The Donald K. Johnson Eye Centre is restoring vision to many patients now where it was not possible just a few years ago. That’s what the research makes possible, and that’s what this tournament supports.”
