In his role as Senior Alliance Director for the Infrastructure Ontario (IO) account, James is responsible for the oversight and success of the assignment by promoting and fostering relationships with IO senior management and the province’s various Ministries while ensuring total contract compliance.
Established in 2005, Infrastructure Ontario is a Crown agency of the Province of Ontario that works to deliver public benefits through partnerships with the private sector. IO delivers large, complex public infrastructure projects using a made-in-Ontario modern procurement and project management practice called Alternative Financing and Procurement (AFP). IO also partners with the private sector to manage one of the largest real estate portfolios in Canada, provides municipalities and eligible public-sector clients with loans to renew public infrastructure, and leverages its private-sector expertise to advise the provincial public-sector clients on commercial transactions.
In 2011, IO merged with the Ontario Realty Corporation to become the Ontario Infrastructure and Lands Corporation. On their behalf, CBRE manages approximately 3500 assets totaling 45 MSF as well as 50,000 acres of land, including courthouses, offices and heritage buildings. CBRE manages IO's real estate spend of $600+M annually as well as $120M in annual capital investment with approximately 500+ employees dedicated to the assignment.
James began his career as an Audit Manager with Deloitte & Touche LLP ("D&T") in their Real Estate Audit practice.
He joined CBRE in 2007 as a Controller of Client Accounting, playing the lead finance and accounting role on a 14 million SF integrated portfolio in the financial services industry. Before being promoted in 2009 to Director, Finance on the IO PLMS account, James played a significant role in pursuing new business for CBRE in Canada and supported the related transition efforts.
During 2011, James was promoted to Managing Director, Finance and assumed responsibility for the Strategic Sourcing and Portfolio Services teams on the IO Account. Next, in 2013, he was appointed Managing Director, FM and Operations. In January 2016, James gained the position of Senior Alliance Director on the IO Account.
