CBRE Edmonton Office is Alberta’s First to Receive WELL Certification

CBRE now has five WELL-Certified Canadian offices and is the nation’s commercial real estate leader for employee health and wellness
CBRE’s new Edmonton office has achieved WELL Certification at the silver level for New and Existing Interiors by the International WELL Building Institute™ (IWBI™). The office space is the first in the province of Alberta to receive this prestigious distinction, which is awarded based on IWBI’s WELL Building Standard™ (WELL™), the premier building standard to focus on enhancing employees’ health and wellness through the built environment.
To receive WELL Certification, the Edmonton office was assessed, monitored and tested across seven wellness categories: air, water, nourishment, light, fitness, comfort and mind. CBRE’s revamped Edmonton office – occupying the 19th floor of Manulife Place at 10180 - 101st Street – incorporates more than 100 wellness strategies, including universal access to natural light for employees, ergonomic sit-stand desks, and noise-attenuating technology to reduce stress-inducing background noise. Carbon-filtered water is provided within 30 metres of workstations to encourage better hydration. And a central lunchroom, the RISE Café, encourages staff to take a break from their desks to eat and collaborate.

The Edmonton office is the 10th CBRE office in Canada to be transformed in recent years as a part of our company’s program to create world-class space for its people and clients. CBRE is helping to pioneer the adoption of the WELL Standard, considered the next frontier in workplace design, throughout Canada. CBRE now has a total of five offices registered for WELL Certification, making it a leader in global adoption of the standard.
In 2013, CBRE’s global parent became the world’s first company to achieve WELL Certification for a commercial office space through the WELL™ pilot program, with the opening of its corporate headquarters in Los Angeles.
