Openings: Allbirds became the fourth digitally native brand to open on Rittenhouse Row. Sprouts Farmers Market opened its fourth Philadelphia MSA location in Upper Dublin. Two grocers opened stores in Cherry Hill: Trader Joe’s and Hung Vuong. The local Vietnamese chain backfilled a long-vacant ShopRite box. Target will backfill the vacant Acme box in Wynnewood with a small-format concept. Lidl will open six additional Philadelphia-area stores in 2021.
Closings: Several national chains announced plans to shutter Philadelphia-area stores: Bed Bath & Beyond (Plymouth Meeting), Century 21 (Market East), Lord & Taylor (Bala Cynwyd and King of Prussia), and Stein Mart (Cherry Hill, Downingtown, Jenkintown, King of Prussia, and North Wilmington). Wawa closed its store at Broad and Walnut in Center City.
