As the global economy bounces back from the pandemic-induced downturn, commercial real estate investors are looking to 2021 and beyond as period of high growth—and substantive change.

CBRE’s 2021 Global Investor Intentions Survey paints a broadly positive picture of investors across the Americas, EMEA and Asia-Pacific who are adapting to markets that are recovering from the abrupt pandemic-induced downturn.

The big takeaway: Investors intend to deploy much more capital worldwide this year, which has led CBRE to forecast 15% to 20% growth in global real estate investment volume in 2021.

According to the survey, investors are:

  • Investing in amenities, safety and wellness programs and flex and collaborative space offerings to attract quality tenants
  • Focusing increasingly on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) considerations and opportunities
  • Directing capital to alternative sectors such as data centers, healthcare assets and senior housing

This report also provides market intelligence and analysis from CBRE’s senior business leaders in the Americas, EMEA and Asia-Pacific, adding more depth and insight to this year’s global investor survey report.
