Our Canadian Company
In 1983, CBRE began operations in Canada, under the name Coldwell Banker Canada Inc. The first office was established in downtown Toronto, followed shortly by the launch of offices in North Toronto and Vancouver. By 1994, the company had become a national corporation, CBRE Limited, with offices in major cities across the country.
Since then, the company has opened additional offices and expanded the scope of its operations to include Brokerage Services, Property Management, Asset Services, Corporate Services, Valuation & Appraisal, Mortgage & Financial Services, Research and Consulting Services.
In 2001, the company turned its attention to facilities management and corporate real estate opportunities in Canada, by forming a joint venture with O & Y Enterprises. In 2004, a 100% interest was acquired and CB Richard Ellis Management Services was established with the mandate to provide comprehensive real estate services for some of Canada’s best known corporations and most prestigious addresses.
In 2005, CBRE was identified as one of the top corporate cultures in Canada by corporate recruiting firm Waterstone Human Capital and continues to hire the best young talent.
Starting in 2015 and continuing through 2023, the company spent millions of dollars to implement a workplace transformation in Canada. This process renovated and vastly improved every office location in the country with the goal of implementing world class standards for operations, environment and wellbeing to better support our employees and produce even better outcomes for our clients in Canada.
In 2024, CBRE created a new legal entity called CBRE Capital (Canada) Inc. to strategize, structure and execute best-in-class financing solutions. It is now a thriving operation that complements our transaction capabilities and CBRE is now a broker, lender and servicer of commercial mortgages with over $5 billion in debt arranged yearly.
Today, CBRE Limited employs nearly 4,000 people in 23 offices from coast to coast. All directors and officers are located in Canada and are proud to be helping build up businesses, communities and people across this great country!
