Statement of Commitment

CBRE is dedicated to meeting accessibility standards and continuously improving our practices to support individuals with disabilities. As part of this commitment, we will remove barriers to accessibility, prevent future barriers from occurring and provide solutions to help people with disabilities maintain their independence and autonomy.

In alignment with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and accessibility laws across Canadian provinces and territories, we strive to promote, protect and ensure the full and equal enjoyment of human rights for all persons with disabilities. Our commitment encompasses:

  • Prevention of Discrimination: We actively strive to prevent discrimination and promote equality.
  • Respect for Diversity: We embrace the differences and contributions of persons with disabilities as integral to our community.
  • Improving Accessibility: We are committed to identifying and removing barriers to accessibility in a timely manner.
  • Dignity and Equal Opportunity: We believe in providing equal opportunities for all, ensuring integration and participation in society.

Under provincial and territory accessibility regulations, the following standards establish requirements that apply to CBRE.

Employment Standards

CBRE aims to prevent and eliminate disability-related barriers within employment practices, policies and processes. This includes reviewing and improving our employment policies to ensure accessibility for all individuals and to provide equal access to job opportunities for persons with disabilities.

CBRE has established and implemented various policies and measures, such as our Standards of Business Conduct, Disability Accommodation Policy and Workplace Accessibility Policy, to support employees and job applicants with disabilities while fostering an inclusive environment. These policies are available in accessible formats and/or with communication support upon request. We also inform the public and our employees that we are committed to providing suitable accommodations for disabilities when requested.

  • Recruitment and Hiring: CBRE is committed to fair and accessible employment practices, ensuring that the public and employees are informed about available accommodations during the recruitment, hiring and assessment processes.
  • Workplace Emergency Response: CBRE can provide personalized workplace emergency response information to assist employees with disabilities during emergencies. With the employee's consent, this information will also be shared with designated individuals responsible for assistance.
  • Individual Accommodation Plans: CBRE will implement a written process to create individual accommodation plans for employees with disabilities, identifying specific needs and detailing how accessibility will be achieved.
  • Return-to-Work Process: CBRE will establish a return-to-work process for employees who are absent and require disability-related accommodations, outlining steps to facilitate their return and ensuring ongoing communication during their leave.
  • Performance Management: In performance management, CBRE will consider the specific accessibility needs of employees with disabilities, including their accommodation plans.

Customer Service

CBRE will communicate to persons with disabilities in ways that take into account their disability. CBRE is committed to serving customers who may use assistive devices to obtain information about our products or services.

Persons with disabilities may enter CBRE premises accompanied by a service animal and keep the animal with them if the public has access to such areas and the animal is not otherwise excluded by law.

CBRE will make a reasonable effort to give customers notice in the event of a disruption to the facilities or services. However, we will not be able to provide adequate notice of emergencies.

CBRE will post a sign regarding a site closure or equipment maintenance issue. This sign will be printed and laid out with sufficient size and visibility.

Training

CBRE is committed to raising awareness of accessibility and leading with disability inclusion in mind by training employees on accessibility laws and accessibility aspects of the provincial and territorial Human Rights Codes that apply to persons with disabilities. Training will be provided in a way that best suits the duties of employees.

Information and Communications

CBRE is committed to meeting the information and communication needs of people with disabilities and will consult with these individuals to determine their needs.

When asked, we will provide information and communications materials in accessible formats or with communication support. This includes publicly available information about our goods, services and facilities, as well as publicly available emergency and safety information.

We aim to design and develop our technology solutions to meet the needs of persons with disabilities except in circumstances where technical reasons make it impractical. This includes public websites, web content and web applications controlled by CBRE to communicate and conduct business.

Modifications to This or Other Policies

Any of our policies that do not respect and promote the dignity and independence of people with disabilities will be modified, as appropriate.
