This year, three top CBRE brokers have been nominated. Here’s a sneak peek at the innovative ways they approach their work, clients and life in general.
Digital Innovation Award: David Cairns
David Cairns knows the value of original digital content. Along with team members David Bethell, Amy Calcutt and Maria O’Reilly, David has adopted a holistic approach to social media marketing, reaching an unprecedented number of existing and prospective clients.
The team spearheaded the CBRE Forward initiative, a content vertical comprised of videos and articles showcasing Canada’s most innovative companies. Each video provides a glimpse into a company’s culture, office space and growth plans.
David’s team has also produced unique personal branding content, sharing videos where he discusses the latest industry trends. The videos are shared across CBRE Canada’s social channels, including YouTube, LinkedIn and Twitter.
David’s message now reaches over 2,000 followers on LinkedIn alone. The team’s multi-channel distribution strategy allows them to reach a wider audience, providing their clients and community with valuable information they won’t find anywhere else.
Young Professional of the Year: Spencer Mussett
Spencer Mussett’s emerging industry leadership is built upon authenticity, energy and market intelligence, which creates a competitive advantage for his clients.
Spencer has a proven ability to work collaboratively across the brokerage community. In just five years, he has completed 225 transactions representing more than 4.8 million sq. ft., totaling more than $330 million. Spencer’s production each year has eclipsed the preceding year’s total in net income, transaction count, deal value and square footage.
Spencer has also mentored over 30 young professionals and sales trainees across Canada. He is active in the community, working as a co-organizer of the inaugural CBRE Spring Clothing Drive, in partnership with Dress for Success Toronto. He was an integral part of the team that solicited 1,042 donations of business clothing, providing men and women with opportunities to build job-finding skills.
Office Broker of the Year: Brendan Sullivan
Brendan Sullivan leverages an incredible understanding of Toronto to grow his reputation as an industry thought leader and city builder.
With more than 120 deals under his belt this year alone, Brendan is known for achieving market-setting lease terms and leadership on major projects. Currently, he is working with Menkes to build the new East Bayfront community, shaping the future of Toronto’s reimagined waterfront.
His client-centered approach to brokerage has allowed him to build longstanding relationships with Canada’s leading landlords, including Menkes, Cadillac Fairview, First Capital, Crestpoint, and Adgar Investments. His passion for collaboration has led him to partner with CBRE’s platform experts in workplace strategy and project management to create integrated real estate solutions for a diverse range of occupiers.
Brendan knows the value of reinvesting in his community. Over the past six years, his leadership with Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation has helped to raise $4 million in funds for Type 1 diabetes research.
