How CBRE and Turner & Townsend Will Change Project Management in Canada
April 3, 2025 4 Minute Read

CBRE Group, Inc. earlier this year combined its project management business with Turner & Townsend, a majority-owned subsidiary that provides program management, cost consultancy and project management services globally.
The integrated service offering, operating under the Turner & Townsend brand, includes building consultancy / due diligence; cost consultancy, management and controls; design & engineering; project and program management; and workplace technology services.
The unified project management business represents an offering that is “unmatched for its scale and breadth of capabilities,” noted CBRE CEO Bob Sulentic, adding that the combined entity is “poised to benefit from powerful secular trends in areas like infrastructure, green energy transition and employee experience.”
Combining the businesses significantly strengthens client delivery. Together the combined global footprint of over 22,000 people in more than 60 countries means the business can deliver any project or program, of any size, anywhere in the world.
Here in Canada, the greater scale, investment, and capability will provide clients with access to comprehensive data, insights and knowledge, thanks to having the broadest and deepest repository of program and project performance data in the sector to draw from.
Client Benefits
Gerard McCabe, Managing Director and Country Lead for Turner & Townsend in Canada, says delivering truly integrated services that add tangible value is a key benefit.
“We can deliver across the entire client journey from the early analytics and advice that CBRE provides around property acquisitions and investments, then proceed with finding land, financing projects, designing them, building the projects and then managing them, or even disposing of the property. No other organization can do that on a global basis.”
Natural Synergies
Darcie Garand, Senior Director, Client Solutions for Turner & Townsend in Canada, notes that there are natural synergies between the operations of CBRE’s Project Management and Turner & Townsend.
“Turner & Townsend operates across three core segments spanning energy and natural resources, real estate, and infrastructure, covering a multitude of sectors. Coming together provides us with even more capabilities, deeper bench strength, and greater expertise to support our clients in Canada. It’s very much a complementary partnership.”
Ron Armstrong, Senior Managing Director and Project Management Territory Lead for Turner & Townsend in Canada, says the combined entity will drive value and collaboration into every line of business that CBRE has in Canada today. A 24-year veteran of CBRE, Armstrong says he has never been more excited about the future than he is now.
“We now have the bandwidth to solve complex challenges at every phase of the real estate lifecycle and for every asset class and client type.”
“This gives us the ability to bring tremendous additional value and creativity to every opportunity we’re involved with,” adds Armstrong. “We’re talking about a world class service offering that simply does not exist in the Canadian market today.”
Employer of Choice
There’s lots of excitement about what lies ahead, says McCabe, and the success of the combined business will be reliant on the talent of the team.
“There are so many opportunities ahead and we have the people to capitalize on them and deliver results for our clients,” he says. “It starts with the right people and we’re incredibly lucky to have the best in the industry as we push ahead with this combined one business.”
Turner & Townsend is providing project management services on The Homalco Child Care Centre, a new 79 space licensed childcare facility for the Homalco First Nation designed by Sea to Sky Architecture Inc.
