Ricky Hernden oversees all marketing and corporate communications activities for CBRE in Canada. His team is spread across the country and has expertise in corporate marketing, internal communications, media, digital marketing, events, translation and location intelligence.
As Vice President, Content & Client Strategy for CBRE in Canada, Ricky connects clients and colleagues with Canadian data, market intelligence and cutting-edge real estate outcomes. He creates content that is original, powerful, accessible, and actionable. He helps build brands, raise awareness of opportunities in the marketplace and strives to make positive change.
Ricky has had a varied career in commercial real estate since joining CBRE Limited in 2008 as a member of the National Research Team. He initially developed a deep understanding of market fundamentals, data and analysis, while expanding the retail research platform and serving as the industrial analyst for the Greater Toronto Area.
In 2012, Ricky became the first National Manager of Corporate Communications in the history of the Canadian company and helped build a media relations and internal communications platform. In 2016, Ricky assumed leadership of the National Marketing Team and was able to increase frontline engagement, elevate thought leadership and enhance collaboration between shared services.
Ricky now focuses on the development of content for alternative media platforms and helps connect businesses with real estate strategies that will allow them to meet and exceed their business goals.
Ricky received CBRE’s 2011 National MVP Award and 2019 National Award of Distinction for outstanding contributions to the company. He was a founding member of CBRE's Diversity Council and supports Start Proud in building networks and careers for LGBTQ+ professionals. He has a BAH in Geography/History from Queen’s University and a MSc in Urban Planning from the University of Toronto.
